TRAINING/SERVICES
At SJWORKINGDOGS we offer a variety of training options to assist you in achieving the goals that you wish to attain. Every option from one-to-one lessons to residential training/mini-break stays for either you, your dog,or both in our beautiful rural Lincolnshire Wolds farmhouse with its training fields set in stunning countryside on an ancient private estate.
We provide a range of training days and weekend courses covering all different aspects of dog handling . From early all-breed puppy focus and obedience, through to entering gun dogs into the shooting field and specialist sport and protection training, sometimes utilising guest trainers who are experts in their particular field.
Whether you are planning to work towards you and your dog competing in field trials or just want them to be a well mannered companion who walks nicely on a lead then it is vital that you commence “FOCUS” training as soon as possible to establish you as a leader in your puppy’s eyes.
By using calm, strong and consistent handling methods you are proving that you are the dominant figure in the relationship and worthy of their trust and attention.
I believe that our job as trainers is to teach these focus techniques to help you communicate properly with your dog. Poor focus and communication is at the root of most of the problems and issues owners have with their dogs whether it is lead pulling, retrieving or even separation anxiety
Our 1-2-1 training lessons and residential dog packages are aimed at achieving clearly attainable goals decided on at a free assessment meeting and after careful consideration.
Our reputation is paramount to us and if we don’t believe that a satisfactory outcome can be achieved for whatever reason, ( especially if we don’t think that the training will be consistently incorporated into the dogs life) then we will not take on the training commission. It is unfair and confusing for a dog to have differing and inconsistent rules in it’s life.
Dogs are our passion and our life, their well being and happiness takes precedence in everything we do.
Our residential training weekend or mid- week breaks are geared towards small groups ( 2-6 ) of handlers all with dogs in a similar stage of their training. Whether it is early focus work and obedience or behavioural problems and issues of a similar nature, through to entering into picking up / beating with any breed of working dog a programme can be arranged to suit.
With 40 years experience of gamekeeping and dog training/handling on some of the best estates here and abroad we are ideally suited to teach what is needed and expected in the shooting field.
You are invited to stay with us and our dogs in our family home which is a beautiful country farmhouse situated in the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds AONB with close links to the coast and picturesque market towns.
You will arrive on a Friday evening for a welcome talk and supper and look forward to a weekend of intensive training coupled with good food and like minded company in a relaxed atmosphere.
With facilities such as a games room and a well stocked home bar this is a great place to relax and unwind after a long days training.
All bedrooms are large, comfortable double rooms.
Partners are most welcome to stay and other activities can often be arranged ie Wolds walking, shopping or fishing etc to enable this to become an enjoyable well- earned joint break as well as a great learning experience.
